How many bags?

Bags of Concrete Calculator

The calculator starts from a volume in cubic yards and the yield you assign to each bag. It reports a whole-bag count. That count is a quantity estimate, not a concrete order.

Volume and bag yield

yd³
Use the slab or driveway result, or enter a yardage from a supplier worksheet.
ft³
0.60 ft³ is a commonly published yield for an 80 lb bag. 0.45 ft³ is common for a 60 lb bag. Read the bag in your hand.

Assumptions

Cubic yards are multiplied by 27 to obtain cubic feet. That volume is divided by the yield per bag. The calculator then rounds up to the next whole bag, because a fraction of a bag still has to be bought as a bag.

Empty fields and values of zero or less are rejected. Changing the bag-size menu resets the yield to a typical published figure for that weight. You can overwrite the yield if the bag you bought lists a different volume.

Bagged mix and ready-mix are not the same product. This tool only counts bags from a volume. It does not choose a mix. Bags vs a ready-mix truck explains the difference.
